Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss topics like the Iran Contra controversy.
